Topography
The site features stunning underwater formations created by beautiful hard corals, adorned with colorful sponges. There is a deep pinnacle in front of the sloping reef, separated by a sandy path between the reef and the pinnacle. Divers can explore coral gardens, rock formations, and sandy patches, showcasing diverse underwater scenery.
MarineLife
Bodu Finolhu Thila is home to a wide variety of marine species. If conditions are good, many grey reef sharks as well as silvertip reef sharks can be found at the Thila. Additionally, divers can expect to encounter schools of reef fish, including angelfish, butterflyfish, surgeonfish, and bannerfish, along with other intriguing creatures like moray eels, lionfish, and cleaner shrimp.
Depth
The reef starts from approximately 8 meters (26 feet) and goes down to over 30 meters (98 feet). The pinnacle itself is located at depths of 22 to 30 meters (72 to 98 feet).
Visibility
Bodu Finolhu Thila typically offers good visibility, often exceeding 20 meters (65 feet) or more on clear days.
Currents
This dive site generally has mild to medium currents, although stronger currents can occasionally occur.
